Fertilization

Applying timely nutrients for a full and green lawn

...

Fertilization Benefits

  • Regular fertilization provide the nutrients your lawn needs to look its best and withstand the stresses of weeds, heat, drought and family activity.
  • Fertilizing your lawn throughout the growing season gives grass plants the nutrients they need for deep roots and strong, full blades.
  • Grass plants in the upper Midwest simply cannot thrive and survive to their maximum potential, without timely delivery of the proper nutrients and accurate doses.

Our Process

We offer everything you need for a beautiful lawn regardless of its current condition. Our program features custom blends of phosphate-free fertilizers with slow-release technology along with broadleaf and grub control. Our custom blend produces a beautiful, lush, green turf while decreasing nitrogen, controlling potassium input, and eliminating the need for Phosphorus. This proprietary blend provides a better base for consistent color, better disease resistance, a stronger root system, and increased drought tolerance.

Our fertilizing service includes:

  • Fertilizer treatments featuring slow-release technology
  • Preventative crabgrass control
  • Broadleaf weed control
  • Optional grub control
  • Return visits for additional broad leaf or crabgrass control
  • An email notification before and after each visit

Service Timeline:

Early Spring

In early spring we will apply a Liquid Dow Defendor. One of the most important application we can do to beautify a lawn. Excellent pre emergent control for Dandelions, Clovers, Chickweed, Knotweed. The best proven defense for year round Dandelion control on the market today.

Spring

In spring we will apply slow-release fertilizer, pre-emergent crabgrass control, and broadleaf weed control. These treatments will result in an early spring green-up, control all active weeds, and prevent summer crabgrass with a Controlled release granular fertilizer 13-0-5 10% with Dimension crabgrass pre-emergent.

This is also a good time to think about Aeration, especially if your soil is clay. In the Midwest, cool-season grasses grow best; these including bluegrass, fescue and ryegrass, etc. The two best time for aeration are in the high growth, cooler seasons of spring and fall, after the first few mowings.

Late Spring / Early Summer

In late spring, phosphate-free slow-release fertilizer will be applied to maintain vigorous growth and good color. Broadleaf weeds like dandelions and clover are common this time of year. Optional grub control may be effectively applied where needed up to early July.

This includes our most powerful Liquid Broadleaf Weed Control. Includes control for over 450 types of northern, north central, central U.S. lawn weeds. Including Chickweed, Creeping Charlie, Dandelion, Mallow, Burweed, Chicory, Clover, Stinkweed, Sumac, Purge, Mustard, Asper, Witchweed…

Summer

Phosphate-free slow-release fertilizer will be applied to maintain a healthy turf while eliminating the burn potential of traditional fertilizers.

Multi-stage slow release granular with liquid spot treat broadleaf control as needed. Early to mid summer fertilizer 10-0-20 65% 10%FE

This treatment will help your lawn fight disease, drought, and other heat related stresses. Difficult-to-control summer weeds will be spot controlled as needed.

Late Summer / Early Fall

Fall is the best growing time of the year for your lawn. Similar to our Late Spring / Early Summer application, we will apply a heavy rate of quick release, phosphate-free fertilizer.

Rapid root and top growth will maximize recovery from summer stresses. Weeds will be controlled as needed. The fall is a great time to schedule Aeration and Slit Seeding (over seeding). In the cooler Midwest seeding will produce the best result in the fall.

Fall

Our phosphate-free fertilizer will help encourage strong root development without excessive top growth. This is a multi-stage slow release granular fertilizer 24-0-11 50% 2%FE 1%N

Late Fall

As winter approaches in the Midwest it is important to strengthen your lawn for the upcoming winter months. Your lawn will stay thick, green and lush up to the falling snow with our Granular fertilization for root health, disease control, and winterize 28-0-3 20% 35%BIO
